Originally released on Chess Records in 1973, The Back Door Wolf is the last studio album from blues-great Howlin' Wolf. The 10-song set was cut with his regular working band The Wolf Gang featuring Hubert Sumlin on guitar and S.P. Leary on drums while Detroit Junior adds harpsichord to a handful of tracks and the Wolf himself holds down vocals and harmonica duties throughout. The swan song is highlighted by the incendiary “Coon on the Moon,” the autobiographical “Moving,” the topical "Watergate Blues" and “Can’t Stay Here,” which harked back to Charley Patton.
