1. Rock & Roll 4:54
A Princess cookin’ in the kitchen…
Playing solitaire
She been burnin’ them stacks with a monkey on her back since Daddy ain’t there
She been swinging that ax and picking up the slack and it ain’t fair

So I could sell my soul to Rock & Roll
So I could sell my soul to Rock & Roll
She made a deal with the angels and they’ll never let go
So I could sell my soul to Rock & Roll

Kingfish Solo 1

When I’m driving down the highway
When I wanna let up
There’s an angel on my shoulder with sweet tea driving in an ol’ grey one
Sayin’ play the song bout the heart that’s broke but don’t give up

So I could sell my soul to Rock & Roll
So I could sell my soul to Rock & Roll
She made a deal with the angels and they’ll never let go
So I could sell my soul to Rock & Roll

Kingfish Solo 2

For just a minute in the moment
Before all the roar
Pride beside me here to guide me
When I’m finding... that I’m all alone
With prayer ‘cross chest... a whispered breath... you been here before

Go baby sell your soul to Rock & Roll
Yeah baby sell your soul to Rock & Roll
She made a deal with the angels and they’ll never let go
So I could sell my soul to Rock & Roll

Kingfish Solo 3

In the name of grandma
And granddad’s ghost
And a pistol of a woman... Mama
When she kissed me and let me go

I’m gonna sell my soul to Rock & Roll
I’m gonna sell my soul to Rock & Roll
She made a deal with the angels so I’ll never let go
I’m gonna sell my soul to Rock & Roll

I’m gonna sell my soul to Rock & Roll
I’m gonna sell my soul to Rock & Roll
We made a deal with the angels so I’ll never let go
I’m gonna sell my soul to Rock & Roll
I’m gonna sell my soul to Rock & Roll

Rock & Roll is the first new original song Kingfish has recorded since the May, 2019 release of his Grammy-nominated debut album, Kingfish. This intense soulful ballad is a tribute to his mother, Princess Pride, who died in late 2019. He recorded his moving vocals and impassioned guitar solos in Memphis at Willie Mitchell's famed Royal Studios. The song was produced by Nick Goldston.

According to Ingram, "Rock & Roll is a special song. It’s a track about my relationship with my biggest champion — my mom. The lyrics are true to life and are a reflection of her dedication to me as her son. I would not be where I am today without her unwavering love and support. Further, as a musician who is recognized for blues, the chorus is important because it refers to the Robert Johnson ‘selling his soul’ story, and is a direct nod to blues history and its influence on rock & roll."
