The Texas Songwriters Association has named Alligator Records artist Marcia Ball its 2023 "Texas Music Legend." She will be presented with the coveted Darryl K. Royal (DKR) Texas Music Legends Award in a ceremony to be held on February 25, 2023 in Austin, Texas. Find more information here. Writers and editors of French Soul Bag magazine have selected blues icon Charlie Musselwhite's Mississippi Son as its 2022 Album Of The Year. Musselwhite was recently honored in France with the prestigious Charles Cros Academy Grand Prix Blues Award.

Soul Bag pictured Musselwhite on the cover of its July 2022 issue, noting Mississippi Son features "minimalist accompaniment, uncluttered playing, hypnotic patterns and voices. Musselwhite perfectly masters the codes of country blues."
