On Wednesday, December 15, The Blues Foundation announced the nominees for the 2011 Blues Music Awards. Eight Alligator recording artists received a total of 18 nominations, far more than any other label.











On April 17, award-winning blues singer Shemekia Copeland will head to Afghanistan to perform for U.S. troops as part of the Bluzapalooza tour. The 14-day tour will travel to Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and Qatar with most of the time being spent at forward operating bases within the war zone of Afghanistan. This is Copeland's second trip to the region. In 2008 she performed for troops in Iraq and Kuwait.
